Clone the project with the recursive submodules flag:

git clone --recursive-submodules

This will pull the PaperMod theme.

Check JavaScript and CSS dependencies referenced in the Hugo templates:

make check-deps

Requires Python 3 and network access to the npm registry; no npm installation is needed. The command scans layouts/**/*.html for versioned jsDelivr npm and unpkg URLs and reports their template versions alongside npm's latest tag. Major-only pins such as react@16 are identified as floating pins. It does not check assets generated by R packages or dependencies inside the theme submodule.

This is a report only: it does not change files, and version differences do not fail the command. Registry lookup failures return a nonzero exit status. Review compatibility before updating URLs, update any corresponding integrity hashes (such as KaTeX's), and preview affected pages with Hugo.
