poll-aaa-rmv-renewal -- to help you schedule your driver's license renewal at AAA

This extremely simple utility prints open slots for appointments to renew a driver's license or do a Real ID conversion at Massachusetts AAA locations over the next 30 days.

The official Web page for scheduling this is https://northeast.aaa.com/automotive/registry-services/schedule-rmv.html, but it requires you to click a button for each location that you're interested in, and it is not very friendly because you have to babysit the refresh button to find an open slot.

Running

Clone the repository and cargo build to compile a binary at target/debug/poll-aaa-rmv-renewal. If you want a smaller binary, cargo build --profile release (and look in target/release, instead).

Run poll-aaa-rmv-renewal -L to see locations you can query for open appointment slots. Query them with poll-aaa-rmv-renewal -l <LOCATION_1> -l <LOCATION_2> ....

Use --all to query all locations. If you do, keep in mind that you may have to wait some seconds before you see any output.

Specify --tsv for more machine-friendly output (like if you want to pipe this to grep | xmessage or some other chain of commands).

If you run this in a polling loop because no slots are immediately open where you want them, please put a delay between invocations! It would not do to hammer the AAA Web page.

After you find a timeslot you like, navigate to https://northeast.aaa.com/automotive/registry-services/schedule-rmv.html and click on your location of choice to try to reserve it before someone else does. Good luck!
