- Run "tar cf - ... | gzip -c" rather than "tar zcf - ..." to avoid
tar(1)'s automatic padding of nulls to align with the block size,
which is just garbage for a receiver.
- Have $uname variable to hold the OS implementation name and wrap
FreeBSD or OpenBSD specific features in conditional blocks using
$uname.
- Miscellaneous small fixes.
