sturm ca4bae8577 - don't hardcode /etc, use SYSCONFDIR instead
- don't change SYSCONFDIR, use CONFDIR/SUBST_VARS instead and if neccessary
  use "CONFIGURE_STYLE=gnu old" and explicitly set --sysconfdir=${CONFDIR}
a few more to come...
