Starting from 11.1, GCC will require a C++11 compiler. This is a problem on architectures still stuck on GCC 4.2.1 in base, so here's a minimal bootstrap compiler consisting only of gcc, g++ and a static libestdc++, installed under a different prefix. comments/ok sthen@
