f959b10f27 ftp.zsh.org and www.zsh.org looks like they are limiting the bandwidth to 
10K/s.  So, I decided to re-order the list of MASTER_SITES to use a faster
site as the first one used (ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pub/unix/shells/zsh/).

4bbe7d7054 There is a bug preventing modules to be built w/ dynamic zsh on alpha. 
For now, build the static flavor by default there.

* Re-enable static flavor.
* Tighten PERMIT_*.  I'm sick of it.  The license is written in
imprenetrable legalese, obviously drafted by corporate lawyers, and
full of bizarre requirements.  I don't care if this can be construed
to be Open Source, it certainly is not in the spirit of Open Source.
* Remove license check and "Proprietary Notice" since we won't distribute
the package.

This is a maintenance release of the stable 4.0 series. A large number
of small bugfixes have been made covering the whole shell. There are
very few user-visible changes, mostly minor enhancements to the
completion function system.

c8a43ccfe0 some updates to zsh/stable: 
- fix Completion/BSD/Command/_bsd_pkg so its more suitable under OpenBSD
- fix linking of .so, since we prefer "${CC} -shared -fPIC" to "ld -Bshareable".
  This patch was sent to zsh authors and it will be part of the next stable
  release.

8335840edf remove the sub-package -modules. if it's not installed, basic features wont be 
available, like zle, compctl, etc...  It is now part of the main package.

c0ba28dd9c update zsh/stable to 4.0.1: 
- add two new sub-packages, -modules and -zftp which adds dynamically
  loadable modules and an embedded ftp client to zsh.
- static FLAVOR disable all dynamic modules and link statically zsh.

Otherwise:

Zsh is a UNIX command interpreter (shell) which of the standard shells
most resembles the Korn shell (ksh), although it is not completely
compatible.  It includes enhancements of many types, notably in the
command-line editor, options for customizing its behaviour, filename
globbing, features to make C-shell (csh) users feel more at home and
extra features drawn from tcsh (another custom shell).

a5fc69c363 Work-around for libtermcap.a incorrectly defining trace. 
Seen when building -static.

Note that work-around never hurts, so put it in unconditionally for
arches without dynamic libs.

49f6d23c9f Cosmetic changes, mostly. 
- unbundle patches in separate files,
- remove mostly unneeded Makefile patch, use ports mechanisms instead,
- use INSTALL_* macros,

- proper package, handles shell addition/removal like other shells do...

a813079932 Kill a large set of deprecated variables. 
Thoroughly unsubtle, most mkdir -p should probably be INSTALL* at
*install stage, and echo/ECHO_MSG is somewhat unsorted.

It's quite possible I missed a few automated changes...
