- fix pkg/*INSTALL (dont hardcode /etc, use ${SYSCONFDIR}) (prompted by nikolay)
- misc tweaks noticed while I was here
- remove upstream accepted patch
o old patch and COMMENT going away
o fix a symbollic link problem
o integrate COMMENT into the Makefile
o take over maintinership
o no longer marked broken
