do not track
A web standards proposal made in 2009 which has the browser indicate to a
web server that the user does not wish to be tracked around the internet
for advertising or other nefarious purposes. It was initially implemented
by the Firefox browser, but was entirely ineffective. Any privacy measure
which depends upon the server respecting the expressed preferences of the
user - especially if that results in loss of advertising revenue - will be
abused.
