cracktro

Combination of "crack" and "intro". An introduction image or animation inserted
at the startup of cracked proprietary software. Cracktros typically gave a
shout out to the nicknames or the crackers or the cracking group, similar
to graffiti tags in meatspace.

The cracktros of the late 1980s on systems such as Atari ST and Commodore
Amiga gave birth to the demoscene of artistic computer animation demos,
and was originally a particularly European phenomena.
