patch 8.1.0251: using full path is not supported for 'backupdir'

Problem:    Using a full path is supported for 'directory' but not for
            'backupdir'. (Mikolaj Machowski)
Solution:   Support 'backupdir' as well. (Christian Brabandt, closes #179)
