‘nerd’ in its variant form ‘knurd’ from the word

‘drunk’ backwards; this etymology was common at RPI. Though it

is commonly confused with <a href="../N/nerd.html"><i class="glossterm">nerd</i></a>, it appears these

words have separate origins (compare the
