+Combination of "crack" and "intro". An introduction image or animation inserted
+at the startup of cracked proprietary software. Cracktros typically gave a
+shout out to the nicknames or the crackers or the cracking group, similar
+to graffiti tags in meatspace.
+
+The cracktros of the late 1980s on systems such as Atari ST and Commodore
+Amiga gave birth to the demoscene of artistic computer animation demos,
+and was originally a particularly European phenomena.
